Expocine's third day of programming, Latin America's largest film business convention, featured relevant discussions that represent an important step in audiovisual industry in Brazil. The Auditorium of the Renaissance Hotel received a debate on sustainable cinema, presented by the Scarlet Studio, which is developing two audiovisual works about Brazilian activist Chico Mendes. The talk brought more details about the Chico Vive platform, an entertainment ecosystem with social and environmental impact and was attended by actor Bruno Gagliasso, one of the producers and part of the cast of fictional biography that is in production.
Paulo Albuquerque, ESBRATUR's ex -exhales advisor, a supporting entity of the project, commented how cinema and tourism together can contribute to the environmental preservation of such a rich biodiversity region.
“Adding audiovisual with tourism stimulation, when well promoted it can have a very important impact of preserving and respecting our natural and cultural resources, generating jobs and income, and also helping the northern region develop. Tourism is a very important way to this and, without such a project it would be difficult to show, especially for international tourists, how much we have to offer.”
Another highlight addressed on the day was the strength of the cinebograms, a genre that is increasingly gaining more space in Brazil. Silvio Guindane, director of the feature film 'Mussum, Filmis', stressed how exciting it is to adapt to the big screen the story of a person so loved by a legion of fans.
“It's a big challenge because we expect to watch it, it's as complex as adapting a best seller, for example. We need to believe in our point of view, but we still have the generosity of delivering to the fan what he expects with that character. I'm sure what the viewer is also 100% contemplated by this idol on the screen is to bring or deepen something that this viewer does not know. Win the game to make a movie that is palatable. ”
The importance of federal incentives for the sector, impact of public policies on the promotion of diversity and inclusion on film, the challenges imposed by the new project leasing business model and the rise of True Crime productions completed the chats of the Thursday.
In the programming of distributors, the day at Cine Marquise also brought news from O2 Play, Sony Pictures, Club Movies and Diamond Films, which shared with the display market their next releases for the big screen. Disney ended the presentation day with the presence of Marcos Mion, protagonist of the movie “MMA - My Best Friend”, which hits theaters in January 2025.
