The excess of serial narratives, with films and series that converge with each other, may be generating a kind of "entertainment burnout", causing a partial loss of audiences who can no longer follow each release, or creating a barrier, preventing new people from approaching these stories because they cannot find an entry point into that universe.
This conversation has been largely driven by the gradual loss of audience interest in superhero films, especially from Marvel Studios, where characters and narratives are lost in a tangle of stories that pass through the big screen and Disney+ streaming, in an attempt to keep fans engaged on all these screens, causing these stories to wear out.
All of this leads the market to the question: after all, what do fans want and how do they behave?
To answer this question, on October EXPOCINEat 3 pm, Marcelo Forlani, co-founder of Omelete and CCXP—respectively, the leading Brazilian pop culture website and one of the largest comic-cons in the world—and Pedro Peixoto Curi, a researcher in fan studies and audience behavior and coordinator of the undergraduate Film and Audiovisual and Journalism programs at ESPM-Rio, will gather at EXPOCINE 23. The panel will be moderated by Renata Vomero, editor-in-chief of Portal Exibidor.
